Who would think that a nail would be the best Christmas present ever? Well, today it was. I didn't want to post anything until everything was resolved and now it is, so here it goes. On the 23rd of December I was putting the kids to bed and Lily found a nail on the floor and was playing with it in her mouth while laying down. (still don't know where the nail came from, how it got there, or why she had it in her mouth) Somehow it dropped out of her hands and into her mouth and down her throat into her tummy. It was late and I was tired, she told me she needed to tell me something- I told her she could tell me in the morning, she insisted it was very important. She told me what happened and I could not believe it, I went into panic mode. We have never had one of the kids swallow something weird like that. I called her doctor right away, they told me to take her to the E.R. Lily was beside herself this whole time- not knowing what would happen. She was sure she was going to miss Christmas, I assured her the best I could that everything would be okay (not really knowing myself what was going to happen) They took an X-Ray and found the nail, they did not want to scope it out because that could do more damage than having it go through her system. Now it was just a waiting game. I fed her lots of all-bran and fruit and we all said lot's of prayers. The doctor told us that if there was any pain at all to bring her into the E.R. right away. We are VERY grateful Lily is okay, she is officially as tough as nails now. The nail on the left is the size of the nail she told me it was, and the nail on the right is the actual nail.

Scary! Glad she's ok!
How scary! That nail is huge! We had a one yr. old swallow a penny, but nothing sharp like a nail! I had to keep looking for in dirty diapers for five days!
Ouch! that's one tough little girl. Glad things came out smoothly.
I'm glad it came out without any serious problems! That nail is so big!
That's insane! I would have totally freaked. Thank goodness she's okay. :) How was your Christmas and New Years otherwise?
