As of last Wednesday I am on my way to eating a whole lot healthier. I am on a whole food (nothing processed), gluten free, dairy free diet... hate to use that word because it's not really a diet, just a new way of eating. My neighbor friend who is a personal trainer is doing a study with a group of 10 of us. Today is my fourth day and things are going good. Last week I had slowly been cutting things out- milk, sugar, wheat, anything processed. I basically eat any fruit or veggie, RAW nuts or seeds, brown rice, organic chicken, turkey or wild caught fish, eggs, goat cheese, plain live culture yogurt along with sea salt, butter, olive oil, and any no salt seasoning. It has been great so far, the second and third days were the hardest, my body was going through withdrawals- mostly from no sugar! Today I feel good, I have more energy and I'm not craving the breads, and sugars ect. This is a 30 day "detox", after the 30 days you add in milk, wheat or whatever (if you want), one at a time to see what the effects are on your body and to see how you feel. This kind of diet will also starve out the disease process and help the healthy cells, tissues and organs to replicate in the body. I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen, so this has been fun and we have found a lot of new recipes and foods that we love. Kasey and the kids are not doing this with me, but we are ALL eating a lot better. So far I don't feel deprived of anything- partly because I know I can do anything for 30 days AND chocolate and desserts will still be around when I'm done- I used to eat them like they would not be :) I know the whole world (okay the people that see this blog) does not care about what I am eating- I am posting so that I can be more accountable and let you know what happens with this experiment!

Good for you. Let me know the results. I too am making some changes and am curious to see what is best not eaten.
Proud of you Andrea. Hopefully I will get on the bandwagon and do something to help myself, rather than drag others down with me.
Very cool. Go for it! I just finished a little stint myself (not the same diet and not for as long) and I lost 10 pounds! I felt horrible the first 3 days and craved a cookie dough shake from the dairy keen like nothing else! but really after those three to five days I felt really good and didn't have the cravings anymore. I had a lot of energy and loved it. Then I got sick. (not related to the way I was eating) and am hoping to start again soon. Keep us posted on the progress and if you find a really good recipe that you like you should post it for sure.
Wow, good luck with that. I'm curious to see what you think by the end of the 30 days and as you add things back in. I don't know if I could go that long without sugar & milk (even if I knew I'd be getting them back in a few weeks...)!
Good Job! I'm excited to hear how it goes. You'll have to pass on some good gluten free recipes. James seems to have a gluten sensitivity through the breast milk. So I have to eat a gluten free diet for him. Good Luck!
Andrea--
Let me know how it goes for you--although commonsense says you will probably feel better without the chemical cocktail, but still let me know how your feeling. I know exactly what you mean about the sugar withdrawals from when I went strict low carb. I don't think people realize how addicted to refined carbs (processed wheat, sugar, etc.) they really are until they try to stop eating them all together. Good luck!
This is amazing. Good for you. I always think you look gorgeous but getting healthy is great! Just thought I'd drop a line now that we're blog friends, take care!
